She became a nurse not for a paycheck but out of conviction, and she climbed from ward to department to hospital leadership until she was running institutions in crisis, including a COVID hospital during the worst of it. Along the way she lost two husbands, one to suicide, and survived cancer. Still Standing is the story of a woman who kept showing up for everyone else, learned the hard way what it costs, and finally tells the truth about what it takes to lead through grief, illness, and the kind of losses that don't make it into the official record.
